It’s Spring Time in Sarah Palin’s Alaska

It’s March 20th—Spring has arrived! It’s been a long, long winter down here in the lower 48 and us pampered pansies have complained non-stop about the cold, sharp winds and the plague of ice and snow. But stop your whining, all you weenies, cause up in Sarah Palin country…. Continue reading

My gosh, how time flies. Once again, we are left to rummage through the remains of one year while wistfully contemplating the vagaries of the next. Well, whatever ups and downs your dogged spirit might have mastered during these preceding 12 months, here’s wishing you and yours an even more fearless and fruitful new year. Continue reading

A Thanksgiving Parable for the Politically Depressed

As this Chinese gentleman so wisely perceived, the determination of any drama is not necessarily concluded in each of its unfolding scenes.
Life’s fickle events certainly shape and mold us. But often we forget that we too do the shaping, not only of circumstances, but of our character and our destiny. So let this holiday season be a time for fruitful introspection and let us choose to stand together upon the solid rock of thanksgiving. Continue reading

Hurricane Sandy: Our Halloween Trick

A Hurricane at Halloween. Now that’s what I call a real underhanded prank from our unpredictable Mother Nature—the old girl didn’t even give us the trick-or-treat choice! And of course, Big Sandy is supposed to make a hard left turn and head straight for South Jersey and Philadelphia, full speed in my direction. Oh boy, can’t wait. Continue reading

Twinkies Threatened by Union Strike

With the Hostess Baking Company filing for bankruptcy back in January and with the Teamsters Union fighting every maneuver by this corporate confectionery to modify their puffed up pensions, the fate of America’s sweet tooth is hanging precariously in the balance. Twinkies and Drake’s Cakes may soon be no more. Continue reading

Broncos Win in Overtime!

The Broncos and the Steelers gave the fans a great game this afternoon. But Tim Tebow was in his groove and with the score tied at 23 – 23, Big Tim blasted out a pass in overtime for a 6-point win over Pittsburgh. And of course, the game finale, at least as far as the scoffing media and network talking heads were concerned, was the Tebow time-out for a quick prayer of gratitude and thanks. Gee guys, just pretend he’s a devout Muslim—I bet you wouldn’t be making fun of him then. Continue reading

Once Again it’s Tebow Time: Broncos Win!

Once again, Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos pull out another comeback victory. Down 10 – 0 to the Chicago Bears, Tebow plowed down the field and threw a 10-yard pass for a touchdown with just over two minutes left in regulation play. A 59-yard field goal would tie the game. Despite the Bears winning the toss in overtime, a fumble gave the ball to the Broncos and another long field goal clinched the win. Continue reading
