Twinkies Threatened by Union Strike

I hate the idea that any traditional American company fails. When I lived in Brooklyn there was a Drakes or Hostess factory just a few blocks away. I remember that me and my partner mourned its closing. Are we now importing Chinese cakes and snacks? I hope not.
It is too bad. I think of all the companies that were a mainstay of the local community when I was a kid—now all gone.
Do they even sell these in the NYC area? I’ve never seen them before but haven’t really look for them since this type of confection is not really my cup of tea and, to tell you the truth, from the picture that is displayed above, it does look very plastic and artificial. Just saying.
For manufactured treats, TastyKakes aren’t bad. Their pies are pretty good (blueberry and lemon are my favorite). I think they’re only sold locally (Philly area) but their website sells their wares.
