Forget the generic and soporific farce that is Presidents Day and take a moment to pay homage to a courageous American who rose from poverty and obscurity to become the 16th President of the United States. And who with over 360,000 Union soldiers, gave his life for his country. How shameful that our nation today sees fit to no longer recognize the birth of this great President.

I have a problem with honoring what is supposed to be the weakest branch of government like it’s a monarchy…and I have problems in honoring Lincoln in light of all his numerous Constitutional violations, which are forgivable because they needed to be done to save the union, but forgivable does not mean praiseworthy. But I realize I’m probably in the minority here.
I know we all look for that perfect hero but I don’t think he exists. Considering all the immoral and corrupt trash that has made its way into the White House, I think honoring Lincoln is a safe bet.
Thank you!
