The contemporary conservative landscape is indeed an interesting panorama. After being jilted by the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), GoProud seems to have found acceptance of another sort from within the conservative extended family of fractious fellow travellers. It was announced today that the indomitable Ann Coulter will be joining GoProud’s advisory council as Honorary Chair.
The Dynamic Duo of Coulter and GoProud should cause a bit of a stir within conservative circles. The winds of change may not exactly be blowing full force in our favor as of yet, but I definitely sense a sharp breeze that’s beginning to ruffle some orthodox feathers in our conservative flock.
Today, GOProud, the only national organization of gay conservatives and their allies, announced that Ann Coulter was joining the organization’s Advisory Council as Honorary Chair. Coulter’s official title will be “Honorary Chair and Gay Icon.” Ann Coulter is a brilliant and fearless leader of the conservative movement, we are honored to have her as part of GOProud’s leadership,” said Christopher Barron, Chairman of GOProud’s Board. “Ann helped put our organization on the map. Politics is full of the meek, the compromising and the apologists – Ann, like GOProud, is the exact opposite of all of those things. We need more Ann Coulters.”
“I am honored to serve in this capacity on GOProud’s Advisory Council, and look forward to being the Queen of Fabulous,” said Coulter.
The importance of this can only be appreciated with the advantage of time. It is truly significant. Ann Coulter is a conservative icon and her outspoken (as only she can be outspoken) support of GOProud is a very good thing for America.
I think it’s significant too, Glen. Ms. Ann is shaking things up and in a good way.
