Multiculturalism Tanking in the Netherlands

The Netherlands is finally saying NO to the Double-Dutch standard of multiculturalism. After a 30-plus year experiment with nonsensical political policies that promoted parallel societies within its borders, one a modernized Western culture and the other a pre-Medieval caliphate, the Dutch government is now instituting measures to put an end to the suicidal Muslim mollification programs of the past.

Dutch Interior Minister, Piet Hein Donner submitted the government’s new immigrant integration bill to parliament on June 16th stating:

The government shares the social dissatisfaction over the multicultural society model and plans to shift priority to the values of the Dutch people. In the new integration system, the values of the Dutch society play a central role. With this change, the government steps away from the model of a multicultural society

A more obligatory integration is justified because the government also demands that from its own citizens. It is necessary because otherwise the society gradually grows apart and eventually no one feels at home anymore in the Netherlands. The integration will not be tailored to different groups.  Hudson Institute

Specific changes to Dutch immigration policies will include: banning the burqa beginning in January 2013; outlawing forced marriages among Muslim immigrants; requiring immigrants to learn the Dutch language; discontinuing special financial subsidies to Muslim immigrants; imposing measures against Muslims who lower their chances of gaining employment due to the way they dress; and overall, instituting a tougher stance on immigrants who disobey Dutch laws and ignore Dutch values.

The polls show that 74% of Dutch voters believe immigrants should conform to Dutch values and 83% support banning the burqa in public places.

So why such an about-face for the citizens of Holland?  Why the dramatic end to their highly coveted multicultural love fest?  Perhaps it was the assassination of Dutch politician, Pim Fortuyn, for his views on Muslim immigration. Or perhaps it might have been the murder of Dutch film maker, Theo Van Gogh, for daring to produce a movie criticizing Islam.  Or perhaps it was the significant rise in acts of immigrant violence and other various crimes that caught the eye of the ordinary Dutch voter.  Or maybe it could have been the report from the Dutch intelligence service showing that Holland is home sweet home to over 50,000 radical Muslims, Muslims with extreme anti-Western views all bent on destroying the very nice people who offered them a better place to live compared to the stinking sink holes they hailed from.

Oh, the way of the world is so very hard for our supercilious liberals to fathom and they just never seem to learn life’s basic lessons.  They fall all over themselves to posture their diversity deference to People of Color, turning the Third World into an exotic menagerie of progressive pets. But oh dear, those innocent child-like 21st century misfits seem to have the bad habit of always biting that helping hand of liberal condescension.  So once again, just like in the Netherlands, it’s back to Remedial Reality 101.

  1. Great catch! You know, as I read this I started to ponder some stuff. Seemingly forever we have been told that, as Americans, we are hated by the rest of the world. Now, I don’t doubt that there is a minute measure of veracity to that… then again, I’m sure that there is a faction of the world who hates the Chinese, or the English, or Israelis(Ok that last one was an obvious one. LOL). I believe that this message is driven home so heavily by the left in order to effectuate the kind of change that they want through self-guilt and self-hate by much of America.

It is my opinion that world does not hate us on the level that we are led to believe nor is it for the myriad of reasons that we are told… domineering attitude, self-righteousness, unwillingness to care for others, wealth, etc. Sure, those reasons would be legitimate if they were completely true of the American spirit but when one considers just how much we give away to the world in loans, money to the Int’l Monetary Fund, NATO, the UN, etc.then it becomes a bit more clear. Again, in my opinion, the world may not like us by virtue of the fact that they want more… more, like any other entitlement receiver’s mentality.

If you look at the proposed changes of the Dutch, it looks an awful lot like the kinds of changes that many Americans wish we could have here. Making English the spoken language, imploring immigrants to be contributing and ethical members of society or else, and a general belief in the values of America sure do sound like the criteria that we wish we had but that we are missing today. In fact, we’ve never had those criteria… yet here we see the Dutch doing what we don’t even do. And why not? Because of the political correctness that has swept through the country under the tutelage of the leftists.

We should buck up, look at the world, and thumb our noses at them. Or as Monty Python once used the French spirit in The Holy Grail, I say we “Fart in their general direction.”

    • I think you’re right. The media does indeed play that same old tune that tries to lay the world’s woes at our doorstep. They even took the 9/11 tragedy and used it for their ‘it’s us, not them’ schtick. And I love your Monty Python suggestion!

  2. Ceeto says:

Go DUTCH!! ….and here we are with our lefty…progressive dweebs, wanting to rewrite the Constitution, because they think it is out of date….show me the expiration date on FREEDOM! AND THE PERSUIT OF HAPPINESS!!! I still believe in “my” 11th Commandment…’=When in Rome…………do as the Romans do!!!!
