Kermit Gosnell, the Philadelphia abortionist charged with various crimes, including the murder of live-born babies, faced Common Pleas Court Judge Renee Cardwell Hughes on Friday in a feisty interchange over his right to a public defender.
Doctor Gosnell tried to plead poverty in his attempt to get the taxpayers to foot the bill for his defense. The Judge pointed out to him that public records show him and his wife owning jointly or individually a total of 17 properties in four states plus a boat. Gosnell argued that he shouldn’t have to liquidate those properties because he had a 13-year old daughter to provide for.
After pointing out to this guy that his first priority was to hire a lawyer, the Judge told Gosnell that his adult children could care for their younger sibling. Stressing each word, the Judge ruled: You Are Not Eligible; You Must Hire An Attorney.
Can you believe the gall of this conniving con man? Expecting the taxpayers to pick up the tab for his defense. We can only hope that Gosnell will spend the rest of his days right where he belongs–in prison.
