A nick nick here, a nick nick there, here a nick, there a nick, everywhere a nick nick….So what’s in a nick anyway? Well, you need not worry your unenlightened little heads about this small relatively insignificant ‘medical’ procedure that would have been performed by our great white-coated professionals, who of course, have the world’s multicultural interests at heart. Our all-knowing medical men and women, bearing their board certification certificates along with their full-fledged memberships in the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), would simply have taken a cute little cut at the child’s clitoris. Just a wittle wee whack down under. Nothing to get all steamed up about. After all now, we have long-suffering Third World immigrants in our midst here in the land of the free, they who bravely struggle to keep alive their curious cultural climes. And if one little nick in time might be enough to appease the parents’ stone age appetite for their underprivileged practices, then who are we to whinge and whine. Bring on the scalpel!
The AAP, in its April 2010 policy statement, Ritual Genital Cutting of Female Minors, promoted female genital mutilation and advocated for federal and state laws to be changed to enable American pediatricians to ‘offer’ this so-called ‘ritual nick’ to the genitalia of immigrant girls.
Here’s the AAP’s spurious justification for their ‘It’s Only A Nick’ policy:
There is reason to believe that offering such a compromise may build trust between hospitals and immigrant communities, save some girls from undergoing disfiguring and life-threatening procedures in their native countries, and play a role in the eventual eradication of FGC (female genital cutting).
Well, the brave new world that is represented by the American Academy of Pediatrics, has now done an about face after fencing with some furious opposition and stunned responses from many of their members and the American public at large. The AAP now claims to be totally against this ‘procedure’: We’re saying don’t do it. Do everything that you can to support that family in this tough time, but don’t be pulled into the procedure. Support that family in this tough time….Oh dear! Get out your giant Left-wing hankies, everyone, another Third World Cry Fest is upon us!
Sane Americans are at a loss as to why we are allowing folks like this into the country to begin with. Maybe every new immigrant should be given a pamphlet of simple DOs and DON’Ts for living in the United States. And maybe at the top of the DON’Ts list could be: Thou shalt not cut off your daughter’s sexual organs. And hey, if they can’t wrap their brains around that basic mandate perhaps they’re not ready (dare I say, not evolved enough) to live in a Western culture.
The Girls Protection Act of 2010 (HR 5137) has been proposed in the House of Representatives and it would make it a crime to take a minor girl living in the United States outside the country for the purpose of female genital mutilation. It is mind blowing that such a bill is even needed. But after the AAP’s compromising dance with the devil, it looks like we need all the legislation we can get.
