With all the news coverage of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico and little to no attention paid to the 11 men who lost their lives in the explosion on the Deepwater Horizon oil rig, I was pleased to see coverage in the Wall Street Journal of the memorial service that was held today.
About 1,000 people, including survivors and family members of those who died, gathered in Mississippi at the Jackson Convention Center to pay tribute to those who lost their lives. The dead were employees of Transocean, Ltd. and M-I Swaco. The memorial service was coordinated by Transocean. Both the CEO and the Director of Human Resources for Transocean delivered tributes to the fallen men.
To those men who do this dirty and dangerous job so us spoiled and sheltered consumers can motor around through our oh so busy lives….thanks, guys.
