I did laugh out loud when I read that line. I think the teddy bear should become the iconic symbol for the progressive movement–it says it all.

Oh good Lord. This statement perfectly typifies the nation the United Kingdom has become, at least since Margaret Thatcher has no longer been Prime Minister: “Cuddling a teddy bear is an important part of our national psyche.”

Unfortunately, most of them seem to have morphed into Neville Chamberlain. There are a few Churchill prototypes in the military but they’re governed by the Neville-ites.

I know we all look for that perfect hero but I don’t think he exists. Considering all the immoral and corrupt trash that has made its way into the White House, I think honoring Lincoln is a safe bet.

I have a problem with honoring what is supposed to be the weakest branch of government like it’s a monarchy…and I have problems in honoring Lincoln in light of all his numerous Constitutional violations, which are forgivable because they needed to be done to save the union, but forgivable does not mean praiseworthy. But I realize I’m probably in the minority here.

I agree with you—it was all too much of a coincidence. You’d like to give them the benefit of the doubt and not jump on every supposed ‘slur’ that slips out unintentionally. But I think Rattlesnake was correct–the media Talking Heads did indeed go after this uppity young Asian man who had the temerity to acknowledge his Christian faith on camera.
