Gay Inc. Missing in Action

When Sarah Palin this past week gave the nod to the inclusion of GOProud at the annual CPAC gathering in Washington, DC, you’d have thought that every gay advocacy group in America might have deigned to acknowledge this very eyebrow-raising event. Those press releases declaring that something good was happening for gays within the conservative movement should have been flying fast and furiously. But strangely, it was all quiet in the hallowed hallways of Gay, Inc.

Even the huge extravaganza hosted by Andrew Breitbart as a welcome celebration for lesbian and gay CPAC attendees couldn’t elicit one little peep of public recognition from the so-called non-partisan leadership of the lesbian and gay community.

When a big conservative media king hosts a bash for gays and lesbians, you’d think that every gay rights group in the US would have sat up and taken public notice.

The nation’s largest gay rights advocacy organization, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), has instituted its own Don’t Ask Don’t Tell toward conservative firebrands Sarah Palin and Sharron Angle after they implicitly but clearly voiced support for the gay-oriented Republican group, GOProud.   The Daily Caller

HRC Deputy Press Secretary, Paul Guequierre, told the Daily Caller that his organization had no comment on the matter.  And two other national gay organizations, the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force and the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) also had no public comment to make when queried by the Daily Caller.  Gee, I wonder why all the reticence.

Well, Christopher Barron, Chairman of the Board for GoProud, gave a concise and accurate summary of the motivation behind the closed eyes and sealed lips strategy of Gay, Inc.

At the end of the day, the Human Rights Campaign is nothing more than a partisan Democratic organization. They spend days publicly attacking something Sarah Palin’s teenage daughter said on Facebook–on Facebook!–but they can’t bring themselves to thank Governor Palin for having the courage to stand up for gay people.  It speaks volumes about what a joke that entire organization is.

They ought to save money on rent and move in with the DNC because they’re one and the same organization. They hold themselves out as a nonpartisan/bipartisan group, but things like this prove that nothing could be further from the truth.

And that’s a wrap!
